Jackson will speak at inaugural Carver High School Coach's Clinic
MONTGOMERY—Alabama State University head men's basketball coach Lewis Jackson will be a guest speaker at the Carver High Coach's Clinic on Saturday, Aug. 28. The clinic will be held at the new Carver High School Gymnasium and will run from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Jackson will join Auburn coach Tony Barbee, Alabama coach Anthony Grant, Auburn-Montgomery coach Larry Chapman and UAB coach Mike Davis as guest speakers at the inaugural event.
Each coach will be allotted 75 minutes to speak on a topic of interest for the state's basketball coaches.   Jackson will speak on the 1-2-2 defensive alignment.
“I'm big on defense,” Jackson said. “I was a scorer in college but the system I played in you had to do both to stay on the floor. In high school, if you don't have a lot of big guys, the 12 defense can be very effective.”
Jackson enters his sixth season at the helm of the Hornets basketball program and has coached his team to two regular season SWAC Championships, a SWAC Tournament Championship and an NCAA and NIT appearance.
