ASU Football Headed to Media Days

MONTGOMERY--The Alabama State University football team will be represented by Head Coach Reggie Barlow and players Nick Andrews, and Kynjee Cotton at the 2010 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Football Kickoff Luncheon.  The two-day event gets underway Monday July 19 and will conclude on Tuesday.  The event will be held at the Cahaba Grand Conference Center in Birmingham. 

Andrews, a junior Wide Receiver from Maplesville was a second team all conference selection last season after leading ASU with 47 receptions for 803 yards and five touchdowns.

Cotton, a junior defensive lineman led ASU’s defense with tackles for losses (12) and sacks (6.5). The Daphne native finished tied for fourth in tackles with 38.

The SWAC coaches will begin the event on Monday with the annual Free SWAC Youth Football Clinic, which will start at 9 a.m.

Tuesday the actual media press conference will begin at 9 a.m. with the coaches and players being made available for media interviews.

The kickoff luncheon follows the interview session at 11 a.m. and the event will conclude with the naming of the pre-season all conference teams and the predicted order of finish at 12:45 p.m.

The Hornets will open the 2010 season on September 4 in an early-season SWAC match-up against Mississippi Valley State University at the Cramton Bowl.  Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
