Men's Track Team Closes Season at NCAA East Regional

GREENSBORO, N.C. –The Alabama State University men’s track & field squad concluded its 2009-10 season Saturday at the NCAA East Regional meet on North Carolina A&T’s Irwin Belk Track.

The Hornets’ campaign came to a close with a 20th-place finish (3:11.59) by the 4x400m relay team consisting of Vincent Butler, Jonathan Franklin, Christopher Duncan and Delorean Peek. The Top 12 times in the relay event advanced to the NCAA Championships.

In addition, junior Belden Ferguson placed 30th in the 110m hurdles after racing to a time of 14.31 in the preliminary heat. The Top 24 performers advanced to the quarterfinals for a shot at qualifying for nationals.

The ASU men’s track team compiled another successful season in SWAC competition in 2009-10 earning an Indoor Championship to go along with a third-place finish in cross country and at the outdoor championships.
