Day One Results
SPRINGHILL, Tenn. – The Alabama State University men's golf team finished the opening day of the Big Blue Intercollegiate in 14th-place after carding rounds of 309-301 (610) Monday at the par 70, 6,740-yard King's Creek Golf Club.
Freshman Sam Strachan was ASU's top performer on day one sitting in a tie for 21st following rounds of 72-74 (146). Senior
Kyle Demeester finished the first day in a tie for 28th (147) and fired the team's low round of the day with a one-over-par 71 in the afternoon session.
Other scores for the Bama State squad on Monday included
John Montgomery (81-75=156/T-74th),
Brendan Prouse (80-81=161/T-83rd) and
Gregory Keafer (81-85=166/87th). In addition, Michael Stringfellow played in the event as an individual finishing the day in 88th at 169 (84-85).
Murray State leads the team competition with a score of 568 with John A. Logan CC in second at 573 and Belmont (574) in third. John Logan's Filip Timmerman heads the individual medalist competition at 135 after carding a pair of sub-par rounds.
Tournament action at the Big Blue Intercollegiate concludes with a final round of 18 holes Tuesday.
