Final Results

ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Alabama State University women's golf team shot a final round 345 Tuesday on its way to earning a runner-up finish in the 2010 Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship played at the par 72, 5,884-yard Links on the Bayou golf course.

The Lady Hornets, who finished the 36-hole event with a score of 677 (332-245), were unable to overcome first round leader Jackson State on the final day.

ASU rookie sensation Aileen Meredith led the way capturing the low freshman medalist honor along with garnering first-team All-SWAC accolades after finishing second in the individual competition. Meredith finished the championship tournament with a 151 (76-75) total.

Along with Meredith's stellar play, sophomore Danielle Robinson and freshman Taaj Hubbard also earned All-SWAC honors for their play in the tournament. Robinson finished fourth at 162 (77-85) to gain first-team recognition while Hubbard was a second-team honoree after finishing tied for eighth at 172 (83-89).

Sophomores D'Andrielle finished tied for 21st (96-100=196) and Brittanie Brooks was 22nd (101-96=197) to complete the Bama State lineup for the event.

Jackson State fired a tournament low 313 Tuesday en route to winning the team title by 45 shots with a tally of 632. Prairie View A&M (733) finished third behind ASU followed by Texas Southern (745), Grambling State (775), Alcorn State (849) and Mississippi Valley State (886).

The ASU women's golf team continues its season on Apr. 25-27 at the Women's Collegiate Golf Classic in Atlanta.
