MONTGOMERY, Ala. –The 2009-10 regular season basketball schedule comes to an end Saturday with the Alabama State University men's and women's basketball teams hosting Southwestern Athletic Conference rival Jackson State in a doubleheader at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome. The games are slated to tip-off at 3 p.m. (women) and 5 p.m. (men).
As part of the final home game activities, the senior student-athletes from both the women's and men's squads will be honored during a pregame ceremony of their respective contests. The Lady Hornets will pay tribute to seniors
Jamie Chambers,
Briana Thomas and
Shanice Merritt while the Hornets will recognize
Menji Mundadi,
Tramayne Moorer and
Byron Walker.
The Lady Hornets (10-16, 7-10 SWAC) look to build on their impressive 54-43 win over Grambling Thursday night and earn a season sweep over the Lady Tigers (6-21, 5-12 SWAC). ASU is currently tied for sixth-place in the league standings and would earn the sixth seed at next week's SWAC Tournament with a win versus JSU and a loss by Alcorn State.
The Bama State men (15-13, 12-5), who have won a season-high six consecutive games, currently rank third in the conference standings and have already secured the No. 3 seed for the upcoming SWAC Tournament. Jackson State (18-11, 16-1 SWAC) is on a 12-game win streak and already claimed the SWAC regular season title and top seed in the tournament. The Tigers posted a 63-62 win over the Hornets in the pairs' first meeting of the year.
Tickets for all ASU home games can be purchased at the Acadome ticket office. Both the men's and women's games will also be carried live on the radio on WVAS (90.7 FM).

The ASU men will open tournament action Thursday at 2:30 p.m., against either Mississippi Valley or Alabama A&M. The ASU women's opening game and opponent are still to be determined based on results from Saturday's regular season finales.
