ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Alabama State University men’s and women’s golf teams lead the field after the opening round of the SWAC Preview hosted by Grambling State.

The Hornets fired a round of 307 to sit atop the leaderboard while the Lady Hornets finished with a 340 following the first 18 holes of play.

ASU senior Kyle Demeester led the way carding a 3-under-par 69 and currently leads the individual medalist competition on the men’s side. Freshman Aileen Meredith holds the top spot in women’s individual medalist play following a 1-under-par 71 in the opening round.

Tournament action concludes Tuesday with a final round of 18 holes.
