Alabama State downs Lady Braves in three

Montgomery, Ala. -- The Alabama State University Lady Hornets defeated the Alcorn State Lady Braves 3-0 (25-6, 25-15, 25-14) Wednesday night at Lockhart Gymnasium.
The win moves the Lady Hornets to 1-2 in the conference and 4-12 overall.
Jessica Holt and Sierra Caudle led the team with nine kills each. Holt added three service aces and three digs to her numbers.
There were two other Lady Hornets who aided in the victory. Anna Meinert and Brena Wheeler both had six kills. Meinert led the team in aces with eight and had 23 assists.
Brittany Watts led the way for the Lady Braves with four kills, followed by Erica Pratcher with three.
Alabama State will return to the hardwood Friday as they face Savannah State University. Game time is set for 6 p.m. at Lockhart Gymnasium.
