Women's Soccer Falls at The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Alabama State women’s soccer team closed its season opening road trip with a disappointing 14-0 loss to The Citadel Sunday afternoon at WLI Field.

With the loss, ASU slips to 0-2-0 on the season while the Bulldogs improve to 1-0-0 after winning their season debut.

Monique Sylvester and Danielle Miller each tallied shots on goal to pace the Hornets offense while goalkeeper Veronique Lamontagne finished with 12 saves. It marked Lamontagne’s second consecutive double-digit save performance.

The Citadel’s Nicole Martinoli led the Bulldogs on the field tallying four goals to go along with two assists. Nikki Mares added three goals for the Bulldogs in the victory.

Alabama State next returns to competition for the squad’s home opener at Hornets Stadium against Tennessee Tech Friday at 7 p.m.
