ALABAMA STATE BOWLING ADDS ONE TO SQUAD

MONTGOMERY —First year Alabama State University head bowling coach Andy Chatmon has announced that Jackie Longo has signed a national-letter-of-intent to compete for ASU beginning in the fall.

Longo, a native of Throop, Pa., had a stellar prep career at Mid Valley High School.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity of coaching this young lady,” said Chatmon. “She will make a great addition to our team.”

Bowling since the age of nine, Longo boasts averages between 206 and 215 per game. She is a two-time pro-am champion, winning the 2002 Greater Harrisburg Open Pro-Am in the 11-and-under division, and the junior prep division at the 2002 Empire State Classic Open Pro-Am.

She is currently coached by former Pro Bowlers Tour member Joe Hutchinson and has had the opportunity of bowling with legendary bowlers such as Walter Ray Williams, Parker Bohn and Pete Weber.

In addition to her experience on the lanes, Longo excels in the classroom, where she carries a 3.89 grade point average and recently graduated with honors from Mid Valley. She plans to major in biology and marine biology en route to a career as a veterinarian.
