Lady Hornets Finish Third at Women's Collegiate Championship

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — The Alabama State University women’s golf team finished third at the Women’s Collegiate Championship held at Stone Mountain Golf Course.

The Lady Hornets finished the 36-hole event with a score of 778 (394-384). Danielle Robinson was the squad’s top performer earning a fourth-place finish at 176 (93-83).

Other linksters competing for Alabama State included Ericka Ware in 11th (96-98=194), D’Andrielle Robinson was tied for 13th (100-102=202) and Vernetta Harris tied for 15th (105-101=206).

Hampton University captured the team championship with a score of 678 followed by South Carolina State (756), Alabama State, Southern University (955) and Benedict College (1004). Hampton’s Iman Ellis won the individual medalist honor with a tournament total 159.

ASU concludes the 2009 spring season on May 8-10 at the 23rd PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
