Thirty-Two ASU Student-Athletes Among Ranks of 2009 Graduation Class

Over 700 students were awarded degrees during ASU's 2009 Commencement ceremony including 32 student athletes
MONTGOMERY — A group of 32 Alabama State University student athletes were among the 734 graduates recognized during the university's Spring Commencement ceremony held May 9 at the ASU Acadome.

The student athlete contingency was comprised of participants from nine of ASU's sponsored sports programs and included several honors degree recipients.

A crowd of more than 7,000 attendees were treated to graduation remarks from commencement speaker Juanita Jones Abernathy, widow of noted ASU alumni the Rev. Dr. Ralph D. Abernathy.
