ASU Men Finish 8th at PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — The Alabama State University men’s golf team earned an eighth-place finish at the 23rd PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship over the weekend. The event was played at the PGA Golf Club.
The Hornets tallied a 54-hole total of 949 following rounds of 327, 302 and 320. Junior Kyle Demeester was the top individual performer for ASU, finishing in 12th place at 218 (77-69-72).
Freshman John Montgomery, who will be playing in the NCAA tournament beginning Thursday, also earned a Top 20 finish with a 20th place total of 227 (81-72-74). Junior Brendan Prouse (85-80-83--248) and freshman Greg Keafer (84-81-91--256) rounded out the Bama State team.
Tennessee State earned the team championship with a three-day tally of 860, while South Carolina State’s Roberto Cacho captured the individual medalist title with a score of 203.
