Alabama State Holds Lead at SWAC Men's Golf Championship

Alabama State University sits atop the leaderboard at the SWAC Men’s Golf Championship following a second round 294 on Tuesday at the Links on the Bayou Golf Course.
The Hornets own an 11-shot advantage heading into the final round after tallying a 36-hole total of 589. Jackson State is currently second at 600 followed by Texas Southern with 620.
ASU’s Kyle Demester leads the individual medalist competition with a two-round score of one-under-par 143 (72-71). Demester holds one-stroke lead over JSU’s Brett Benson, who fired the low round of the tournament on Tuesday with a 69.
Other Hornets listed among the Top 10 individuals are John Montgomery (4th, 147), Todd Hutcheson (T-5th, 148) and Brendan Prouse (T-9th, 154). Gregory Keafer rounds out the ASU lineup in 12th place with a tournament total of 155.
Tournament action concludes Wednesday with a final round of 18 holes beginning at 8 a.m.
