MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Alabama State University's
Kejuan Riley was recognized Monday by the Southwestern Athletic Conference for his performance against Tuskegee University, earning the league's Newcomer of the Week honor for football.
The honor marks Riley's second of the season, as he was named the SWAC Newcomer of the Week Oct. 24. This season, ASU players garnered six weekly distinctions from the league office.
A freshman defensive back from Wetumpka, Ala., Riley finished with four tackles and a pass break-up in ASU's annual battle with Tuskegee. In addition, Riley's first career interception thwarted a fourth quarter scoring drive by the Golden Tigers. Riley finished the 2009 season tied for fourth on the squad with 38 tackles.
Alabama State concluded its 2009 football season Thanksgiving day in the Turkey Day Classic against Tuskegee.
