Andrew Lyons picked up his second weekly SWAC honor
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama State University’s Andrew Lyons was recognized Monday by the Southwestern Athletic Conference for his performances against Southern University, earning the league’s Specialist of the Week honor.

The honor marks Lyons’ second of the season, as he was named the SWAC Specialist of the Week Oct. 24. This season, ASU players have garnered five weekly distinctions from the conference.

A sophomore kicker from Panama City, Fla., Lyons finished the SU game with 10 points after kicking three field goals and an extra point. He connected on field goal tries from 28, 19 and 21 yards. Lyons also averaged 38.0 yards per punt highlighted by a career-long boot of 50 yards, and had two of his four punts downed inside the 20-yard line, including one at the one-yard line.

Alabama State closes the 2009 season Thanksgiving Day against archrival Tuskegee. The Hornets and Golden Tigers kickoff Nov. 26 at 3 p.m. in Cramton Bowl.
