Lady Hornets Finish 4th at Savannah State Invitational

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Alabama State University women's golf team improved by 13 strokes in the final round en route to posting a fourth-place finish at the Savannah State Tiger Fall Invitational on Tuesday.

The Lady Hornets, playing in their final fall tournament of the season, posted a tournament score of 683 (348-335). Freshman Aileen Meredith was ASU's top performer finishing fifth at 158 (84-74).

Three other ASU linksters posted Top 20 performances with Danielle Robinson (88-79=167) and Brittanie Brooks (89-87=167) tying for 16th and Taaj Hubbard (87-95=182) earning a 18th-place showing. D'Andrielle Robinson finished 20th (105-79=184) to round out the Lady Hornets lineup.

Hampton University defeated Bethune-Cookman in a playoff to win the team championship, as both squads posted 36-hole totals of 626. South Carolina State finished third at 659 followed by Alabama State, Tennessee State (717) and Savannah State (920). BCC's Kimberly Wong shot a 149 to earn the individual medalist title.

The Lady Hornets will not compete again until their spring tournament season opener on Feb. 28-Mar. 2 at the USA Lady Jaguar Invitational in Mobile, Ala.
