Lady Hornets Drop a 3-1 Volleyball Decision to Winston-Salem State
J. Holt

Winston-Salem, N.C. -- Senior Jessica Holt’s 13 kills, seven blocks and two service aces weren’t enough to lift the Alabama State University volleyball team to victory Tuesday night as the Lady Hornets fell to Winston-Salem State in four sets, 21-25, 19-25, 25-15, 21-25.

Junior Althea Russell managed to post seven kills and had a .200 hitting percentage with just four errors in 15 total attempts. Kelsye Hall and Talyah Mueller had five kills each for ASU.

On the defensive side of the statistics sheet, freshman Roselande Corneille and senior Anna Meinert paced the team in the digs category collecting eight each. Teammate Deidra Byner added seven digs and junior Brena Wheeler had five blocks (three solo and two assisted).

The Lady Hornets will attempt to get back into the win column Wednesday night when they travel to Norfolk, Va., to face Norfolk State. The first serve for that contest is set for 7 p.m. EST.
