ASU Women's Golf Finishes Ninth at Troy Invitational

TROY, Ala. – The Alabama State University women's golf team posted a ninth-place finish Tuesday in the rain-shortened Troy Women's Invitational at the Troy Country Club.

The Lady Hornets carded a 36-hole total 719 (367-352) on the par 72, 6,005-yard layout. The event was scheduled for 54 holes of play over two days but was shortened following heavy rains Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Freshman Aileen Meredith was ASU's top finisher earning a tie for 28th with a score of 160 (78-82). Danielle Robinson finished 49th at 181 (93-88) followed by Taaj Hubbard in 50th (95-90=185), Brittanie Brooks 54th (108-92=200) and D'Andrielle Robinson 56th (101-103=204).

Louisiana-Monroe captured the team championship with a two-round score of 607, edging tournament host Troy (609) by two strokes. Western Kentucky finished third at 616 with Jacksonville State (617) and South Alabama (620) rounding out the top five.

Troy's Haley Lawrence won the individual medalist title with a one-over-par 145.

The ASU women's team returns to the links for its final fall season event Nov. 8-10 at the Savannah State Tournament in Savannah, Ga.
