ASU's Denys Alyeksyeyev Named SWAC Tennis Freshman of the Year

Alabama State's Denys Alyeksyeyev was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference's Tennis Freshman of the Year and Qunitero Moore was named 1st team All-SWAC.

The freshman from Ukraine made an immediate impact on Bernard Sewell's Hornets.

"He is such a hard worker," Sewell said. "Denys came in committed to be a very good player, and he really worked hard to improve.

Alyeksyeyev went 6-5 on the season, with a strong 6-4 mark at the number one position. He was 5-3 in the SWAC.

Moore earned 1st team All-SWAC singles.

Moore, a sophomore from College Park, Georgia, was 3-6 on the season, but improved to a solid 3-3 in the conference.
