Shannon Harris is in his fourth season on the Alabama State coaching staff, his second as quarterbacks coach. Harris spent his first two seasons with the Hornets as receivers coach.

Last season, the Hornets played three quarterbacks and as a unit completed 56.1 percent of their passes for 2,384 yards and 20 touchdowns. ASU averaged just under 200 passing yards per game and averaged more than 12 yards per completion and had a touchdown pass every 9.7 completed passes. The Hornets trio finished the season with an efficiency rating of 127.82.
Harris came to ASU after spending one season at Hampton as quarterbacks coach under current ASU offensive coordinator Fred Kaiss. He previously spent six seasons atÂ

The Wiggins, Miss., native played collegiately at Mississippi Gulf CoastÂ
Junior College
 (1998-2000), where he was selected to the All-Mississippi South team and played in the Mississippi Junior College All-Star game.

He transferred to Tennessee State where he played quarterback for the Tigers from 2001-02, setting aÂ
school
 record for total offense with 3,137 yards as a senior.
After his playing career at TSU ended, he remained with theÂ
program
 as a student assistant coach. He also played the 2003 season with the Shreveport Battle Wings of the Arena Football League II.
